We had a pickup from the hotel to take us to the airport. And at the airport we had an assistant help us with getting checked in and through customs and immigration. We could have handled it well ourselves, but the assistance was helpful and appreciated.
We didn’t have a terribly long wait until it was time to
board for our 2+ hour flight to Egypt.
They served a light box lunch on the plane.
We were met near the gate by another assistant who helped us
get our visa (took all of 2 minutes) and get through customs and to luggage
claim. We didn’t have to wait too long
for the luggage. Then it was into a shuttle
that took us to our hotel. We are
staying at the Kempinski, right on the Nile River.
Our trip in Egypt is on a small tour with Alexander and Roberts. And they go for good hotels and restaurants. And rooms with a view when possible. And we have a wonderful view overlooking the
Nile with the boats and lights on the opposite bank. Nice.

We had dinner at the Turkish restaurant in the hotel. They had fresh braked bread with spreads. Paul had a wonderful lentil soup and a couple of side dishes (halloumi cheese and hummus) and Mary had what turned out to be an enormous Lebanese Chicken “pot pie”. Very tasty but way too much.
We had baklava for dessert but it was pretty mediocre.
Then it was to bed so that we could catch our tour in the morning.
