After breakfast we headed out for the uneventful drive to Cairo. We had one bathroom break along the way.
We often take photos through the windows of the buses or vans in which we are touring...it's the only way to get photos of some things as we don't stop everywhere to do a walk around.
The big problem with taking photos through glass is that we often (frequently) get pretty bad reflections. If the photo is otherwise pretty good I will try to edit out the reflections...but depending on location of the reflection removing it is often very hard to do.
This photo, on the other hand, had a perfectly placed, perfectly shaped reflection. Behold...Egypt's Lion with Super-Vision.
We ended up in New Giza (a new community) near Cairo where we stopped for lunch. The restaurant had a huge, open air dining terrace and great views of the valley beyond.
After a relaxing lunch it was back on the road. The drive took us past the Giza pyramids…the views weren’t too great.
At one point we ran into a lot of stop and go traffic…and there were tons of vendors in the streets trying to sell stuff. They stood on the dividing lines as traffic passed them on either side.
More photos in Cairo.
We are back at our lovely hotel, the Kempinski, right on the Nile River. Just for the night. We ate at the hotel tonight.
